The muconate cycloisomerase group consists of the subset of enolase superfamily enzymes with a conserved KX(K/R) motif, and a K in place of H297 of mandelate racemase (which may not be functional). Families contained within this group include muconate cycloisomerase, chloromuconate cycloisomerase, o-succinylbenzoate synthase, N-succinylamino acid racemase and dipeptide epimerase.
