The methylaspartate ammonia-lyase subgroup consists of the subset of enolase superfamily enzymes with a Lys at the end of the sixth beta strand, but no acidic group on the opposite face of the active site. Currently, the only experimentally characterized family within this subgroup is methylaspartate ammonia-lyase.
