ThnB is a member of the radical S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) superfamily of enzymes and shows homology to TrnC/TrnD and AlbA, the oxidoreductases thought to form the sulfur to alpha-carbon crosslinks in thuricin CD and subtilosin A, respectively. Thus, it is thought to be responsible for the formation of the three cysteine sulfur to alpha-carbon bridges in thurincin.
